Earlier this month at Autodesk University 2014, the BPA Team announced the availability of an API for programmatically submitting EnergyPlus input files and downloading simulation results using RESTful methods. This API functionality offers users the option to analyze many energy models in a single submission. Advanced users and software developers interested in integrating EnergyPlus with their product workflow can use this API without having to use the web interface and do not have to wait for an e-mail to download results. This will be done automatically because the API includes a notification and download feature.
Along with the API, the cloud based simulation service has been updated to improve EnergyPlus run time beyond the 10x announced during the initial launch. All registered users of EnergyPlus Cloud Tech preview project can download the API documentation and sample client code from the link here.
