Two things need to be done:
1st. the raw data need to be fitted
2nd. the fitted data need to be added into a binary *.udb file.
Possibility No 1 (Datafitting Software):
The Data Fitting software is a web enabled application. A login and password is needed.
It can be ordered from the material Lab. You can send a request direct to [email protected] or create a support request for that.
The login will be delivered for plastic material companies and companies who use special material data very often.
The program allows for:
- Input of material General Information and Processing Conditions
- Input and plotting of tabular Specific Heat and Thermal Conductivity data
- Input of raw Viscosity data to be fitted to the Cross/WLF model
- Input of raw pvT data to be fitted to the 2-Domain Tait model, or automatic substitution of generic pvT data
- Input of raw Mechanical Properties or automatic substitution of generic mechanical data
- Input of material Melt Flow Rate data
- Exporting of the data in *.21000.udb format for direct use in Autodesk Simulation Moldflow Software
- Facility to include the fitted materials in the next major releases of Autodesk Simulation Moldflow software (all “public” materials will be automatically included in the material databases supplied with Autodesk Simulation Moldflow software).
The program currently does not support thermoset data fitting. These have to submitted using the proper excel spreadsheet (please see below).
Possibility No 2 (Datafitting XLS):
Use/order the Excel sheets from the Data Fitting group or from Support.
Fill out the xls sheet (ampl_thermoplastic_df_form_xxxx.xlxs for thermoplastics, ampl_thermoset_df_form_xxxx.xlsx for thermosets) and send it to [email protected] Data fitting services will begin once Autodesk receive the template populated with all required data (notated by asterisks).
Note:
Thermoplastics materials:
Any non-confidential materials that can be included in our public database are fit free of charge. However, for this we require written approval of the resin manufacturer (use AMPL_Material_database_authorisation_form_xxxxxx.docx);
Any confidential materials that can NOT be included in our public database will attract a fee for fitting the data. Please contact your local representative for a quote.
Thermoset materials:
Any thermoset data fitting requests will attract a fee for fitting the data. Please contact your local representative for a quote;
For non-confidential materials, we require the written approval of the resin manufacturer (use AMPL_Material_database_authorisation_form_xxxxxx.docx).
Many thanks to Mat. Eng. Mgr. Scott Grant for his support on this article.
