Coming off the biggest release in Moldflow's history, the Autodesk Moldflow team has delivered the Moldflow Scandium Technology Preview 2016, filled with many new developments the team has been working on. We are looking for your feedback on everything from workflow to validation of the re results. Although the content of the technology preview is no guarantee that any of the features will make it to the next or any commercial release, we are very interested in hearing your feedback on.
In addition to capabilities inherited from the previous Scandium Tech preview, we added among others features:
Surface mesh manipulation tools
Several features are added, including an expansion of face selection to non-planar meshes. Cutting a mesh along a plane. Change geometry at a surface mesh level like moving elements using an offset operations. Create new geometry through extrusion operations. Improve meshes through new hole filling and mesh imprinting tools.
Cooling for 3D 2-shot overmolding
Include the effect of anisotropic cooling in your analysis. The process supports both the Rotating Core and the Rotating Cube processes. We are very interested in talking to you about your thoughts about improving the workflow for overmolding.
New capabilities in Foaming processes
Include RocTool induction heating technology with the MuCell process. Include Core Back technology, and support for chemical blowing agents.
Anisotropic properties for 3D Inserts
Be able to include anisotropic properties for inserts in to an overmolding warpage analysis. This is an expansion of the Orthotropic properties included earlier.
Cool for 3D Gas assisted injection molding
Include cooling effects in your 3D gas assisted injection molding process
Ejection force analysis
The ejection force analysis was present in previous versions of Scandium. But this is now re-implemented using the Autodesk Nastran structural code.
