I recently had a question from a customer, "I have an attribute on my title block that I want to show in the Drawing List Report, but I don't want the Title Block Update to ever change it. How do I do this?"
Getting an attribute from the title block into the report was the easy part. Any attribute that is part of the Title Block Setup is automatically added as an available field in the Drawing List Report.
But, the trick was how to add it to the Title Block Setup in such a way that the Title Block Update would never change the value on the attribute. I couldn't use a constant string value or a project description line since those values would be written to the attribute on a Title Block Update.
But, while I was thinking about project description lines it occurred to me that maybe I could trick AutoCAD Electrical by adding something like "MYATTR = LINE0" (where 0=zero). It worked! Title Block Update didn't update the attribute because there is no project description line zero. And, the field was available in the Drawing List Report.
Turns out I could have assigned "MYATTR" to anything as long as it wasn't an expected AutoCAD Electrical value. Even a blank value, "MYATTR = ", would work. But for a few minutes I enjoyed thinking I put one over on AutoCAD Electrical.
